At least the air conditioned clothes can use batteries or your car's cigarette lighter in addition to the USB. But you do have a point regarding the mania regarding communicable diseases. Went to visit my sister in Taiwan last year and everyone who has a cold (who's native, white visitors are exempt somehow.. go figure) or other sniffle must wear face masks in public to halt the spread of disease.. it's a crazy sight. After trying one on (whilst doing DIY in the UK) I can attest that the are terribly stiffling when worn for extended periods. The face fans might just help to make it a little easier to breath.
